FALL NEWSLETTER 2020

FALL NEWSLETTER

During the Covid Pandemic we are trying our best to isolate and stay safe and we hope that all our customers are as well. Being isolated for sew many months, many quilters are dusting off their machines, reorganizing
their sewing spaces, sorting through their fabrics and patterns, and/or completing many unfinished and newly started projects.  Hope we are all feeling blessed to have our health to get us through this and the support of our family and friends as we let our creative juices flow.

Since summer has come to end here in Canada and northern United States, we are lucky to witness the many changes as the leaves turn to reds, yellows and oranges.  As the weather becomes cooler and we will be inside more, we may all want to think about a new fall project and what better way than with one of our children related patterns.

Since we are "All in This Together" we value our family, friends and especially our children and
grand children. Therefore we thought we would highlight our "WE ARE THE WORLD" pattern
featuring 18 children from around the world as it seems relevant during this time.

Fortunately we have continued our online business during Covid19 and have received many orders
and have been mailing out our patterns on a regular basis.  Since so many are sewing and quilting,
we have decided to offer a 20% discount October 2nd -17th on our Children related patterns listed below.

With everyone having to wear a face mask to go out and since the elastics can be bothersome around the ears
I have come up with a solution for my grand children that I wish to share with you.  It is a simple fabric band attached to the mask elastic and sits at the back of the head.  See photos and instructions below.  Trisha

The blue band was the 1st sample made without the ring. It needed something to attach to the mask so it wouldn't fall off and get lost, therefore the ring was added to the band and this works wonders.

   Face Mask Band Instructions

   Fabric  -  2" W x 8-1/2' long cotton
   Elastic  - 1/2" wide  x  4-1/2" long
   1 small plastic ring - 5/8" (15mm)
   2 - 5/8" (15 mm) matching buttons

  • Turn each short end of fabric in 1/4" & stitch in place.
  • Fold strip in half lengthwise and stitch length using 1/4" seam allowance.
  • Turn tube right sides out. Feed elastic into tube with safety pin, until it is just inside the tube; be sure not to pull elastic through.
  • Stitch 1 button to end of tube catching elastic in the stitching.
  • Finish pulling elastic through tube, leave elastic end approx 1/2" inside tube. Pin securely.
  • Remove safety pin (place a stitch to catch elastic if desired).
  • Fold end over the ring. Secure. Stitch 2nd button over end of tube, checking that elastic is secured in stitching.
Feed elastic from one end of mask through the ring.
Feed mask through elastic to secure.

AND NOW FOR A LITTLE HUMOUR TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY

(for our Seniors out there)
  • I JUST discovered my age group (I am a Seenager) - senior teenager.
  • I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 55-60 years later.
  • I don't have to go to school or work. I get an allowance ever month.
  • I have my own pad.   I don't have a curfew.
  • I have a driver's license and my own car.
  • I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store (I like the wine store best).
  • The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant; they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared?
  • I don't have acne. Life is Good.
  • Also you will feel more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager.
  • Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.
  • People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes us longer to recall facts because we have more information in our brains.
  • Scientists believe this also makes us hard of hearing as it puts pressure on our inner ear.
  • Older people often go to another room to get something, but stand there wondering what they came for.  It is NOT a memory problem; it's nature's way of making us do more exercise.
       SO THERE!

I should send this to more friends, but right now I can't remember their
names.  Please forward this to your friends as they may be my friends too.
